Multimedia programs are a dime a dozen. However, finding a great multimedia program that is free is hard to do. LMMS just so happens to be one of those programs. LMMS stands for Linux Multimedia Studio. Oddly enough, the program is designed to be run on Windows. The whole point of using this software is to compose and edit music on a computer.

If there is one thing that LMMS does not lack, it is features. This is a very feature-rich program, and this may be its biggest drawback. LMMS has so many features that it is very overwhelming the first time the program is booted up. Granted, not all of the features have to be used, but trying to find the one that the user wants can be challenging in itself.

Since it has so many features, however, it includes just about every tool that a person would need to create and edit music. There are a number of great prefabricated sounds that the user can use when editing music. However, the coolest feature that this program supports is MIDI keyboards.

Although this might not be the most notable feature, it is worth pointing out that LMMS is very sleek looking. It has a nice dark interface that makes it easy to read. The program also provides a number of documents that the user can read. The documents themselves are overwhelming at first glance, but in the end, they provide the user with a lot of much-needed information. Of course, the best course of action for a user is to watch an online tutorial. This is the best way to quickly figure out where all the features of this program are located.

For people who do not know where to get started with a musical track, LMMS has what they need too. The developer loaded this program with ready-made tracks that can be used to get people started. Most of the samples that come on the program are just drum loops and other simple tracks. However, it is nice that the developer included something that users can use to jump right into the program.
